Technology vendor Hewlett-Packard has inked a strategic partnership with Al-Bilad Arabia to focus on Saudi Arabia's oil and gas industry. HP expects the move will help it localise its global consulting and integration experience, especially for large SAP projects.

The vendor claims businesses in the region need IT applications to adapt in real time to drive growth, citing SAP consultancy service as a key tool in helping oil and gas customers build and manage computing environments in a scalable environment. It also argues that Al-Bilad Arabia's offering of HP's services, together with SAP consultancy, will help oil and gas customers improve business process innovation and flexibility.

"We are very excited about the great potential of our partnership with HP as it will help us deliver high quality services to our customers in the oil and gas industry", said Nabil Reda, vice-president at Al-Bilad Arabia. "We, at Al-Bilad Arabia, ensure getting the most out of the client's legacy applications to prolong returns from existing IT investment," he added.

HP claims its experience and close collaboration with SAP in over 55,000 customer implementations, together with its partnership with Al-Bilad Arabia will help it deliver a cost-effective SAP NetWeaver platform deployment.

Alaa El Shimy, consulting and integration director at HP Middle East, argued that: "As the site of the world's fifth largest SAP application implementation, HP understands and appreciates the benefits of SAP applications."
