|~||~||~|So it’s all over for another year – after the gruelling process of nomination, selection and judging, the Network Middle East Innovation Awards came to a conclusion last night as the Awards themselves were handed out. You can see more details of the event here. What has been fantastic about this whole process has been uncovering some of the projects and deployments around the region that we hadn’t seen before – but some we will definitely be coming back to. The aim of these awards is not only to recognise the best products, systems and projects in the Middle East – but also to get the whole networking community participating, and see contributions from companies and individuals that we may not normally hear from. These awards are your awards – the networking community’s awards. They are the your chance to show off what’s best and highlight the organisations and individuals that are delivering the world-class systems in this region. At the start of this process, I wrote an editorial which suggested these awards are the Middle East’s chance to demonstrate that – although it is not the biggest market in the world – there is no one that can beat us on innovation or quality – that, when it comes to IT projects, we’re worth international attention. Yesterday we saw some of these world-class projects among the nominations – and in the coming months you will also be seeing them in Network Middle East itself, as the magazine covers the best from this year’s awards. Last night’s ceremony was the chance for networking professionals to enjoy the attention and recognition of their peers – in the firm knowledge that they are quite definitely worth it. To all of our winners – congratulations. To those who left empty-handed, take solace in the knowledge that the competition was extremely tough – and we hope to see you back next year with even stronger entries. Thank you to everyone who put their time and effort into making the 2007 NME Innovation Awards a success. Until next year…||**||
