Technology services ace Wipro Technologies has formed an alliance with supply chain management solutions provider Manhattan Associates. The partnership will see Wipro utilise its dedicated Supply Chain Management Centre of Excellence to provide services around Manhattan’s product set. Wipro plans to develop complementary tools, frameworks and methodologies in addition to offering IT consulting and system integration services for Manhattan’s range of planning and integrated logistics solutions. Bhanumurthy BM, senior VP retail, CPG and distribution solutions at Wipro, said: “Manhattan Associates is a leading supply chain solutions provider. Jointly we will develop and help retailers optimise their supply chain effectiveness and efficiency, thereby helping them achieve a greater level of customer satisfaction and trouble free supply chain management,” he added. The pair is targeting its efforts at enterprises in the retail, consumer packaged goods and distribution sectors where they claim the combination of their technical skills will be of most benefit. They also insist that the impact of the alliance will be most felt in emerging markets, such as the Middle East, where it will be a key value enhancer for retailers. “Wipro brings extensive experience and insight to the supply chain optimisation initiatives of enterprises and will complement our supply chain planning and execution solutions,” said Jeff Cashman, senior VP business development at Manhattan Associates. “Through Manahattan Associates’ partner programme, alliances are forged with experienced third party integrators and consulting companies who ensure customers receive integrated best-of-breed solutions to suit their unique business requirements,” he added. The high-tech and electronics market is one of several vertical sectors that Manhattan Associates targets. Its integrated planning and logistics solutions allow companies to optimise inventory deployment as well as facilitate cross docking and provide RFID functionality. The Nasdaq-listed company achieved sales of US$47m during the first nine months of the year.
