Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) is deploying an enterprise asset management (EAM) solution from Infor to help reduce maintenance costs and man-hours spent on inspecting equipment. CAA is deploying Infor’s EAM Enterprise Edition in its Air Navigation and Engineering & Maintenance Department, which will use it to provide better management and proactive servicing of more than 10,000 assets at Bahrain International Airport. The solution’s capabilities cover every aspect of the asset management life-cycle - maintenance, equipment, inventory management and contracts covering department assets, Infor said. According to the statement issued by Infor, the business-specific functionality available within the Infor solution and the implementation support offered by its local partners Intertec Systems and Zayani Computers allowed it to win the deal over a number of other EAM vendors. “We chose Infor EAM as we found the ‘benefit over cost’ factor was highest, whilst the total cost of ownership was lower compared to other EAM solutions. Furthermore we are confident that we will be up and running in time,” Ali Ahmad Mohammed, director of Air Navigation Civil Aviation Affairs in Bahrain, said in the statement. CAA will use the system implementation to overhaul its work processes, including the integration of the various sub-departments, existing in multiple locations. CAA expects this to reduce the maintenance costs and man hours spent on inspecting the safety of equipment. It should also reduce downtime and inventory costs, as there will be automatic updates on inventory requirements.
