Fusion Distribution is preparing to move its office to Dubai Silicon Oasis as it looks forward to life under the ownership of European security distributor ComputerLinks. The Germany-based wholesaler confirmed earlier this week that it has purchased a 100% stake in Fusion. UAE-based Fusion — which represents brands such as RSA Security, Kaspersky and Watchguard — plans to shift its headquarters to Dubai Silicon Oasis in the fourth week of July and will eventually be renamed ComputerLinks Middle East. The deal signals security specialist ComputerLinks’ entrance into the region following an assessment of the market that it has been conducting for some time. Back in March, ComputerLinks boss Stephan Link revealed to Channel Middle East that the company intended to invest in the region and was identifying various opportunities. “I think it’s a very attractive market, which is booming,” he said at the time. “It is an interesting region and there are a lot of developments happening. I think we have to make a decision this year — maybe within three to six months.” ComputerLinks has not disclosed the value of the acquisition, but says the purchase price will be paid in cash. Performance-related earn-out payments are also set to be made until the end of 2010. Fusion’s current management team, which includes managing director Tim Martins and marketing chief Lee Reynolds, will remain in place, along with existing employees. Reynolds says that resellers will benefit from the company belonging to a larger group. “This acquisition is the next step in our evolution,” he told Channel Middle East. “It represents the next stage for Fusion and will benefit our customers and channel partners by bringing even more value and support their way.” Frankfurt-listed ComputerLinks is the largest security distributor in Europe and boasts a presence in North America and Australia. The company raked in sales of US$526m last year and boasts relationships with a range of security vendors, including Citrix, RSA, Fortinet and Trend Micro.
