The King of Jordan has ordered representatives of the information and communications technology (ICT) sector to prepare a strategy to ‘revive’ the industry, according to a local media report. King Abdullah has ordered the Information Technology Association of Jordan, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to prepare a strategy within two weeks, Jordan Times reported. “The ICT sector should continue on the right track that started eight years ago,” the King told a meeting of officials, according to the report. “The future of this industry is a future for Jordan and its position on the international ICT map,” he added. The strategy should include a report on the challenges facing the industry and specify the duties and role of ICT bodies, the newspaper said.
