Hard drive vendor Western Digital (WD) today announced that former EMEA-level Maxtor vice president, Didier Trassaert, has joined the company as senior director of its branded products business unit across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Reporting in to Tony Tate, WD’s senior director of worldwide sales for branded products, Trassaert will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s overall business strategies and sales activities within the EMEA region. “Didier adds tremendous value to our branded products business”, said Tate.” His in-depth knowledge of both the European channel and retail markets will benefit WD in meeting the needs of a dynamic and fast-growing marketplace.” Trassaert is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in the hard disk drive business. He worked for Western Digital’s closest competitor, Maxtor Corporation, for over 12 years, most recently as vice president of its EMEA division, and was a key driver of the company’s EMEA growth.
