Networking kit vendor Netgear has posted a 36% increase in overall revenues for the first quarter driven by strong sales in the EMEA region. The vendor registered net revenues of US$173.6 million for the first quarter in comparison to US$127.3 million for the same period last year. Sales in the EMEA region contributed over half this sum at US$92.55 million, the firm said. “The sustained economic phenomenon in the Middle East has been a huge factor in our strong market performance,” Ahmad Zeidan, channel sales manager, Netgear Middle East said. “We have benefited from robust demand and our strong brand pull in our core home and SMB markets has been fuelled by the combination of continued broadband penetration along with our established alliances with content and service providers.” Netgear has seen its Middle Eastern business grow rapidly since it formally launched in the region, opening an office in Dubai, in June 2006. The California, US-headquartered firm set up additional operations in Qatar earlier this year.
