Bahraini telecommunications service provider Batelco has apologised to customers for a temporary glitch in its GSM mobile service. The operator said the disruption, which occurred on May 19, was due to a software failure following a migration to a new generation network. “We truly apologise to all customers for any inconvenience that this unexpected disruption could have caused them and we sincerely appreciate their understanding,” Batelco general manager corporate affairs Ahmed Al Janahi said in a statement. “Our engineers and technicians worked hard and managed to restore the service to all affected areas. We assure our customers that we are exerting every effort possible to make sure such incidents do not occur in the future,” he added. Areas affected by the disruption included part of central Manama, King Faisal highway, Seef area, Karbabad, most of Budiya highway and several villages, the operator said.
