Emitac Distribution is preparing to wow local resellers with the latest range of HP supplies at a special forum it is holding in Jordan. The one-day event, which takes place tomorrow, is also aimed at giving resellers an opportunity to share ideas and concerns. Emitac intends to give details on new HP products and services that it offers in its portfolio and build relations with customers serving the Jordanian market. The event, which is being held with the support of the HP supplies division, will also see Emitac shed light on its future business plans. As well as attendance from some of Emitac’s UAE-based regional team, business development managers from the distributor’s in-country Jordanian office will give presentations. A statement from Emitac Distribution’s management team said the company believes it is vital to forge stronger ties with the reseller community. “With the ever-changing market dynamics and growing uncertainties in the market, it is necessary that vendors as well as distribution companies keep close contact with the resellers in order to counter such uncertainties,” read the statement. “Emitac Distribution intends to have more such events throughout the region on a regular basis to give them insights on the resellers’ needs and concerns along with giving them an opportunity to build good relations with the customers,” it added. Emitac has also confirmed the signing of a distribution agreement with UPS vendor MGE, a subsidiary of Schneider Electric which last year shelled out more than US$6 billion to acquire rival APC. The arrangement, which initially spans Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the UAE, will involve Emitac carrying the vendor’s office protection systems (OPS) lines. OPS consists of MGE’s single-phase UPS and surge suppression products following the acquisition of APC. “We assessed three or four UPS vendors, but we saw that MGE has a very reasonable range that goes up to 10 kVA, which is more than sufficient for the retail and SMB-entry market because we are not into the three-phase systems as they mainly go to the construction, contracting and enterprise business,” explained Amer Khreino, general manager at Emitac Distribution. He added: “MGE fits very much with the infrastructure that we offer and we are also now looking into the possibility of adding more products in storage and networking. We are eyeing a strategic distributorship with one cabling company, which still hasn’t materialised, but it might happen in a month or so.” Emitac Distribution is the wholesale arm of Emitac Group, which operates from Dubai and covers the Middle East through a presence in Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. Emitac made distribution sales of US$235m last year and its current portfolio also includes brands such as Acer, Microsoft and Netgear.
