Regional ICT hub Dubai Internet City (DIC) is making its presence felt at this year’s GITEX Saudi Arabia. DIC is looking to strengthen its ties with the Saudi ICT market and also explore new business opportunities through its participation at the show this week. DIC’s stand plays host to a number of companies within its ICT community including business management software solutions provider Focus Softnet and customer contact consultancy Xceed Professional Services. Jamal Abdulsalam, executive director of DIC, said: "GITEX Saudi is one of the largest information and communications technology exhibitions in the Middle East, enabling leading companies and professionals to exchange ideas and information in one of the world's fastest growing and most exciting markets.” “Dubai Internet City is a strategic base for companies targeting emerging markets in a vast region extending from the Middle East to the Indian subcontinent, and Africa to the CIS countries, covering 2 billion people with GDP of US$6.7 trillion,” claimed Abdulsalam. "Saudi Arabia's tremendous potential makes it an extremely exciting market. GITEX Saudi will be a strategic platform for our business partners to strengthen their brands and build further partnerships,” he concluded. According to the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), the Kingdom is the largest ICT market in the region and the government has earmarked a further US$10.6 billion to drive the development of the sector. With KSA accounting for an estimated 40% of the US$5 billion annual regional market for IT hardware and applications, DIC’s interest in the market is understandable. DIC, which currently hosts 32 Saudi companies including Itsalat International (i2) and MENA eSolutions, is committed to extending its business links with the Kingdom’s ICT market.
