Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) and Indian IT services giant HCL are celebrating their new partnership at this week’s GITEX Saudi Arabia exhibition. The pair have confirmed a relationship that will see them jointly develop opportunities in the Saudi market. AEC, which is based in Riyadh, will allow HCL to offer integrated IT management solutions to Saudi customers and build its brand in the Kingdom. The tie-up marks HCL’s entrance into the Saudi IT sector and reaffirms its reputation as a global services provider by giving it a stronger footprint in the Middle East. HCL currently operates from 17 countries around the world and has more than 300 points of presence in India. It is understood that HCL, which employs 43,000 professionals, is keen to combine its global IT services expertise with AEC’s local knowledge and understanding of the Saudi market. The partnership is expected to pave the way for HCL to engage with a number of important vertical sectors, such as telecoms, military and defence, which would otherwise have been difficult to reach. AEC’s extensive list of customers includes the Saudi Armed Forces, STC and the Civil Aviation Authority. As part of the agreement, HCL is opening a global IT management centre in Riyadh. The state-of-the-art centre, which is designed to expand HCL’s global delivery coverage in the Gulf region, will offer 24x7 IT management services to Saudi enterprises. HCL claims the hub will act as a ‘nerve centre’ for delivering integrated IT management services. The centre is connected to HCL’s core facility in India and promises to offer globally benchmarked processes. The deal will also boost AEC’s aspirations as it continues to move higher up the value chain. Although the company has a strong reputation for providing logistics support, manufacturing and project management to OEMs operating in the region, it is now looking to extend its position in the enterprise services market. HCL bills itself as a multi service, value-based IT provider that offers integrated IT services. HCL now specialises in technology areas including Cisco network infrastructure and Oracle and SAP environments.
