Acer has become the official sponsor of the Yamaha Factory Racing Team. The notebook powerhouse says it constantly devotes both time and energy to the world of sport. “Acer is a high-performance company with ambitious achievement goals and, like Yamaha, we aim to compete among the best in the world. Our new association with Yamaha reflects this Acer spirit of excellence,” said Krishna Murthy, general manager of Acer Middle East. The Yamaha Factory Racing Team has been particularly successful over the past few seasons in the MotoGP World Championships and its top rider, Rossi, currently sits second in the league standings. Valentino Rossi also took second spot in the Grand Prix of Qatar on 10th March 2007. The agreement, which will initially cover the next two seasons, will see the Acer brand placed on both the motorbikes and on the race suits of Rossi and Colin Edwards, as well as all pit crew member uniforms working in the box and on all transport vehicles of the team. Cutting edge innovation and technology have always characterised the worlds of motor racing and IT. The union between a dynamic and innovative brand such as Acer and a prestigious and powerful brand such as Yamaha cannot but enhance the levels of excellence of both companies claimed Murthy.
