EMC has launched new Microsoft SQL Server 2005 solutions and services, and enhanced Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 support to improve value for businesses using the Microsoft platform. The information infrastructure solutions provider has also announced its participation in the Interop Vendor Alliance - a community of software and hardware vendors working together to enhance interoperability with Microsoft systems. “Customers are deploying Microsoft technologies to enhance the effectiveness of their people and their overall business value,” said Chuck Hollis, VP at Technology Alliances. “It’s critical for multiple technologies and varied vendors’ solutions to work together seamlessly and quickly support all of the new important capabilities that Microsoft brings to market,” he continued. “Today’s announcement advances EMC’s efforts to ensure customers can build their information infrastructure by using the best of what EMC and Microsoft can offer.” The new solutions and custom services tie together EMC’s solution integration testing with the advanced Microsoft expertise delivered by EMC global services. There is growing customer demand to deploy Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for mission critical computing, according to EMC. Michael Raheem, senior product manager at Microsoft, said: “EMC’s strong storage solution capabilities for SQL server earned it early acceptance into the SQL Server Always On Technologies Partner program. “EMC is also offering SQL Server enterprise customers advanced optimisation, planning and recovery services to ensure that both the storage infrastructure and the surrounding application environment can meet the tough demands of mission critical applications on the SQL Server data platform.” One of the new releases is a new custom solution to secure and protect e-mail by managing e-mail application security and document-level information rights. This also ensures the right level of data protection for the underlying network and storage infrastructure. EMC feels the solution provides a reliable and secure messaging infrastructure based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. It is based on a combination of EMC’s data protection and recovery technology, RSA SecurID capabilities, and the delivery expertise of EMC global services. Sam Rosenbalm, business development manager at Microsoft and lead manager for the Interop Vendor Alliance, condluded: “EMC’s history of commitment to interoperability testing and its deep hardware and software alignment with Microsoft technology brings valuable expertise and enterprise information management focus to the Alliance.”
