Sun Microsystems has confirmed the appointment of Deena Habib as marketing manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Habib’s new role was first revealed by Channel Middle East earlier this year, following the departure of Sun’s longstanding marketing manager Graham Porter to networking giant Cisco. “Deena brings a wealth of experience to her new position as Sun’s regional marketing manager, and is qualified to suit the significant responsibilities she is about to undertake,” said Chris Cornelius, managing director at Sun Microsystems MENA. “She possesses valuable expertise in both channel and technology marketing, and in her previous positions at Sun, has displayed exceptional commitment and determination. These qualities are of key significance in reinforcing Sun’s presence in the region and boosting our visibility and share of voice in the market,” Cornelius added. Habib has been at Sun for three years, during which time she served as systems practice programme manager. She also held the position of marketing specialist for the MENA region and was responsible for the promotion of Sun’s channel development programme. In her new role, Habib will assume responsibility for the positioning and promotion of the Sun brand across 19 countries including Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, Pakistan, Levant and Egypt. Habib will oversee the marketing of Sun’s products and services as well as vertical-focused and partner initiatives.
