Consumer electronics power retailer Plug-Ins Electronix, a subsidiary of the Al-Futtaim conglomerate, has doubled the size of its retail outlet in Dubai’s Al Ghruair City. In addition to the massive expansion the company invested heavily in staff training, claiming that the competitive nature of Dubai’s consumer electronics market has led consumers to demand increasing levels of service from retailers. “The new look Plug-ins Electronix store at Al Ghurair City will play a significant role in increasing the brand's market share in the UAE. We are confident that the store's unique and elaborate layout will raise the bar for electronics retailing in the region,” said Vihesh Bhatia, group director of engineering and technologies, Al-Futtaim Group. The new-look store consists of 11, 500 square feet of showroom space containing six distinct sections separated by product category and houses over 300 electronics brands. The company is keen to highlight the new standalone gaming section, entitled ‘play’. In what promises to be a bumper year for the industry with the launch of Sony’s PS3 and the Nintendo Wii, company officials predicted this new development would prove a major success with the region’s growing legion of gamers. Other sections include a ‘talk’ section for mobile handset devices, ‘listen’ for audio products, with the ‘connect’ section housing IT and photography products. Bradley Bennett, business development manager of Plug-Ins Electronix claimed the new outlet was in keeping with the company’s ambitious expansion plans. “The new-look store embodies the strength and expertise of the Plug-Ins brand and is set to become a centerpiece for electronics enthusiasts in Dubai. The store provides a uniquely exciting environment for us to satisfy customers' growing electronics needs and has all the winning ingredients to create new standards in product offerings and customer service.”
