Lenovo has announced the new ThinkCentre A55 Small Form Factor (SFF) desktop PC that packs in Intel Core 2 Duo processors and Microsoft’s Windows Vista in a machine the size of an average briefcase. Aimed at companies looking to efficiently use office space and utilise their desktop real estate, Lenovo believes its latest product will satisfy IT managers and business owners alike. “We are seeing an increased adoption of small form factor desktops in settings such as healthcare, education, financial institutions and call-centres,” said Imtiaz Ghani, managing director Lenovo Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan. “Adding the ThinkCentre A55 Small Form Factor desktop PC to our ThinkCentre line gives small-to-medium business users access to the best engineered PCs in a small, full-featured design. These PCs give users the latest innovations like the new Windows Vista operating system and our innovative ThinkVantage technologies in a compact form,” he added. According to Lenovo, the ThinkCentre A55 SFF desktop is approximately 64 percent smaller than it’s traditional tower and 25 percent smaller than its conventional small desktop. It is expected that the smaller footprint will create extra desk space for extra monitors - for dual-monitor work environments - or a personal printer and scanner. The new desktop comes equipped with Lenovo ThinkVantage Technologies (TVTs) and includes rescue and recovery and client security systems to assist in data recovery and password management. Models preloaded with Windows Vista will be available in both notebook and desktop lines with select Lenovo PCs ready for the 2007 Microsoft Office Business Suites.
