Anti-virus software vendor ESET has appointed Saudi outfit Zedan, as a distributor in the KSA. Zedan will help promote and distribute ESET's NOD32 anti-virus software through its channel network in the Kingdom. Neo Neophytou, managing director at ESET Distribution Middle East, said: “Zedan is a well known and trusted name in the IT industry in Saudi Arabia. It has extensive market reach and a well-earned reputation for quality and reliability. With its established reputation, market knowledge and expertise, Zedan is an ideal partner who will help grow NOD32’s market share and reach in Saudi Arabia.” Brian Hawley, general manager at Zedan said: “Apart from being the fastest growing anti-virus solution in the world, ESET’s NOD32 leads the industry in terms of proactive detection and outperforms its competitors. It has a very small footprint needing minimal resource utilisation, taking up limited space on the user’s computer and allowing for faster performance. It also manages upgrades on its own and the user has just to set and forget it. Overall, the product is a winner.” Under the terms of the agreement, Zedan will offer ESET’s software to local resellers, retail outlets and directly to the end-user market. The Saudi company will also provide the first level of support to local partners. Neophytou added: “Zedan currently has 85 listed resellers of IT products that would be natural outlets for NOD32. Zedan is potentially in a position to sell NOD32 to each of its 8,000 existing end-users of other Zedan IT products as well as to new users. Some of these customers have very large networks. This is a fairly easy product to sell and support and almost any supplier of technical services or products could carry it with suitable technical back-up from Zedan.” Up until now ESET’s Saudi market had been addressed by a single distributor and after-sales support was handled by the vendor. It claims that ESET’s brand and the NOD32 solution has been gaining increasing recognition in the Kingdom and this surge in demand created a need for a second distributor to help address the market more effectively. “Saudi Arabia is a very important market for us. We needed another distributor to keep up with the growing demands and to also increase our growth rate in the country. We believe that we have found the perfect partner in Zedan. With their prior expertise and proven commitment to IT and security, we have no doubts that Zedan will help NOD32 and ESET to achieve new heights in the country,” concluded Neophytou.
