India-based security firm MicroWorld has released a new Vista-compatible version of its ‘one-click’ MVAV anti-virus utility called MWAV 9.x and is currently offering the app for free online. At a recent press conference, Govind Rammurthy, CEO of MicroWorld stated, “Vista does attempt to tighten protection against viruses and other intruders, but it also creates some challenges for security firms in providing in-depth security for computers running on the system.” “Now, with the new version of MWAV, users can comprehensively scan and clean their Vista machines of all sorts of malicious programs”. According to the firm, its MWAV toolkit provides a thorough security scan by detecting and cleaning 52 types of malware, ranging from viruses and worms to trojans and rootkits. MicroWorld also revealed that the utility can run along with other anti-virus apps as because it only scans and cleans on-demand. MicroWorld is currently offering MWAV 9.x for free until Saturday March 31. After that time users will have to dish out US $99.95 for a one-year subscription.
