Communication vendor Avaya has kicked off its annual channel partner conference by reiterating its commitment to the Middle East SME market. The vendor is also using the conference to promote local training schemes it is running for partners in the region as well as dishing out awards to its most significant business partners. The two-day event, which began today, is being attended by over 200 business partners from the region. It follows on from another two-day sales training event held earlier this week, which was attended by more than 80 partners. Avaya has told partners at the conference it wants to increase its focus on the SME segment. The vendor says it aspires to stimulate an increase in technology adoption by SMEs in the region by enhancing its market coverage and is pledging to provide intensive training to channel partners from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other key markets. “2006 was a banner year for Avaya’s Business Partners across the MENA region, with significant growth for both applications sales in large enterprises and in the rapidly-increasing SME segment,” stated Roger El-Tawil, channel and marketing director MENA at Avaya. “To enhance the growing community of regional applications experts, we’re also hosting two days of comprehensive training on the most in-demand applications for contact centres and unified communications solutions,” he added. The vendor revealed it is also using the conference as an opportunity to announce the winners of its channel awards, which will be given to partners that achieved the highest market growth and most notable achievements last year.
