CPU giant Intel has confirmed a re-jig of its channel management team in the Middle East following the return of regional sales chief Maan Ahmadie from an ‘assignment’ in North America. Ahmadie is now set to play a key role in the development of Intel’s distribution channel in both Europe and the Middle East as a result of his promotion to a new EMEA-wide role. Ahmadie’s former position has been handed to Sam Bellamy, who has served as Intel’s EMEA channel marketing manager in the past. An Intel Gulf spokesperson confirmed the changes in a statement issued to Channel Middle East: “Maan Ahmadie returned from the US after he completed a six-month temporary assignment and will become EMEA distribution sales manager for the EMEA region. Prior to his new position, Maan was the channel sales manager for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region.” The statement continued: “The channel sales manager for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa position has been taken by Sam Bellamy. Sam has a very strong channel background and most recently he was leading the worldwide channel marketing organisation.” Intel also confirmed that Nass Nauthoa, who leads the channel sales team as GCC channel reseller manager, continues in his current position. Ahmadie returns to the region at a time when Intel’s EMEA operation is still reeling from a year-on-year slump in sales during its last fiscal quarter. Results published by the chip giant last month revealed EMEA sales plummeted 17% against the previous year to US$1.9 billion, but rose 18% on the prior quarter. Meanwhile, overall worldwide profit reached US$1.5 billion on sales down 5% year-on-year to $9.7 billion.
