Printer vendor Xerox has appointed DICOM as master distributor for its complete scanner range. DICOM will be responsible for supplying and supporting Xerox scanners to the vendor’s current reseller network as well as its own channel across the Middle East and Levant. Xerox claims the alliance will help it to reach its objectives of augmenting its channel and bringing latest technologies to an expanding client base. Dan Smith, office products manager at Xerox Middle East and Africa, said: “Appointing DICOM is a win-win situation for us as they mirror Xerox’s strategy when it comes to providing state-of-the-art document management solutions, imaging products and consultancy services to organisations. Xerox will be partnering with DICOM on projects providing customers with an opportunity to work with two of the market leaders in imaging and capture, bringing best of breed solutions to their businesses.” Xerox believes that DICOM has a strong reputation in supplying imaging and capture solutions to businesses across the MEA region and handles an extensive portfolio of software products. Under the terms of the agreement, the distributor will provide the partners with added-value in the shape of consultancy and support services. Lars Jeppesen, managing director at DICOM, said: “The co-operation with Xerox is very important for us and this relationship represents a significant opportunity to further expand our product portfolio. As the exclusive partner for this region we plan to distribute all Xerox scanners through our channel of authorised resellers and customers. We have built up a strong distribution channel for our clients in the Middle East and Africa and believe that Xerox will benefit greatly from this network," added Jeppesen. DICOM will be overseeing Xerox’s DocuMate series of workgroup scanners that combine scanning, PDF file creation and document management, and offer a high level of image quality and optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy, according to the vendor.
