A small number of PowerShot A530 and A540 digital cameras are being recalled by Canon because they run the risk of short-circuiting and overheating. The models suffering from this problem all have serial numbers that begin with ‘21’, ‘22’, ‘23’ and ‘24’. The serial numbers can be found on the bottom of the camera. Cameras with the problem may have extremely hot battery doors and low battery life. Canon also warns that the spring holding the battery door can become hot enough to cause burns. The firm will repair all the affected cameras at no charge, regardless of whether they are within the warranty period or not.
