Doosan lands water projects

South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Company has won contracts worth US $678 million to build water and desalination plants in Oman and the UAE

South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Company has won contracts worth US $678 million to build water and desalination plants in Oman and the UAE. The company will build a 678mW hydropower plant in Oman on behalf of Suez Energy International, the company said in a statement. The contract is worth $510 million. The second order, worth $168 million, is for the construction of a 216mW power plant for Total Tractebel Emirates Power and Gulf Power in the UAE. The Oman project is scheduled for completion by April 2009, while the UAE plant will be constructed by May 2009. Around $6 billion worth of power plant contracts are expected to come on stream in the region next year.
