The main construction package for the US $163 million (AED600 million) Yasmin Village project in Ras Al Khaimah may go out to tender in January or February 2007. Earthworks are expected to start in the first half of 2007 and estimated to be completed during the first half of 2010. Residents will be able to move in from the second half of 2008. Yasmin Village is a rural, residential and commercial project, with the Ras Al Khaimah mountains as the backdrop. The project will offer villas, apartments, office space and community buildings. Sheikh Tariq Al Qassimi, director of Yasmin Village, said: “We are delighted to announce the project. We want to offer something different in real estate – a peaceful sanctuary for families to live in but still enjoy modern day luxuries. We believe that Yasmin Village offers this and more.” Union Group of Companies has been appointed as the project manager and Consulting Engineering Group is the consultant. The project will also include a water conservation project involving rainwater harvesting, as well as its own chemical-free, sewage treatment plant, which will use the latest biotechnology. There are also plans to use solar energy for lighting throughout the development and battery-operated vehicles for a residents’ shuttle service. “The project offers a range of residential accommodation and focuses on community life. Set in a prime location that is 20 minutes from the beach, five minutes from the golf course and 15 minutes from the airport, we believe that the project offers luxury living in peaceful surroundings at an affordable price,” added Al Qassimi. A ring road will encircle the entire development, moving traffic outside the development, further encouraging a peaceful community.
