In an effort to capitalise on the increasing demand for data networking products in the Middle East, Online Distribution and 3Com have launched a promotion to enlist reseller support. All resellers who place orders via Online Distribution’s website are entered into a draw to win a car as part of a promotion which ends on New Year’s Eve. The two companies believe that gigabit ethernet will continue to drive growth in the LAN switch market over the coming quarters and claim that enterprises are increasingly using gigabit ethernet LAN switches for desktop connectivity and to interconnect servers in datacenters. Zakir Lokare, enterprise business unit manager at Online, insists that gigabit is an area in which the distributor is investing heavily at the moment. “Working with our vendors, we aim to demonstrate the collective strength of the latest generation of network technology solutions on offer. Our role is to facilitate access to some of the most advanced best-of-breed networking solutions for companies in the Middle East. Online Distribution works with vendors on their go-to-market strategy. This ensures the right message and support for our resellers,” he said. Amanulla Khan, regional channel manager at 3Com, also sees the gigabit ethernet market as a major business opportunity and claims that the vendor has designed this programme to help drive customers towards making the transition. “Networking technology is a crucial asset to the expanding Middle East business sector and by blending security, availability and ease of management, we aim to provide the latest in high-performance integrated solutions for a range of businesses. Along with our partner, Online Distribution, we look forward to driving the growth of networking technology,” he added. 3Com’s show of solidarity with its distributor, Online, comes amidst reports that it is currently in talks with another distributor, Tech Access, regarding distribution rights for its product portfolio across the Middle East.
