Bids for construction packages on the new US $2.6 billion (AED9.7 billion) Dubai Exhibition City will be invited by the end of this month. Speaking to Construction Week, Christopher Sims, general manager property development, Dubai World Trade Centre, said: “The documentation is now ready and a series of briefing interviews with contractors is in the process of taking place. We have not short-listed anyone as yet. This is a massive project, so we’re expecting a considerable amount of interest from contractors.” The 3km2 development has been designed as a fully integrated environment for trade visitors and business groups. Cox Group is designing the retail and office areas, while Hopkins Architects has been taken on to develop a significant portion of the office campus.
