Oil field services company AlMansoori Specialized Engineering has signed a deal to purchase Egypt’s Energex from Energy Inc. Energex provides tubing conveyed perforation services, where explosives are used to create holes in casings thousands of feet at a time, allowing oil production to begin more quickly. Energex was set up in 1993 and currently works on roughly 200 jobs each year. It is the third company AlMansoori has bought in Egypt this year. “With the addition of Energex, we are able to offer a more integrated package to our customers,” said Ibrahim Al-Alawi, AlMansoori’s corporate business development manager. “We can work in the oil or gas fields, offshore and onshore, in high or low temperatures,” said Raoul Razzouk, general manager of Energy Inc. “We enhance the business of AlMansoori because it offers the rest of the services package.” The perforating service will be gradually rolled-out to new locations around the globe, allowing time for crew to undergo training. “Because we’re dealing with explosives, the work needs personnel that are attentive and well trained, to retain our excellent safety record,” said Razzouk. AlMansoori was established in the UAE in 1977, and now has over 800 employees working in 15 countries. This latest purchase is part of the company’s continued expansion of its business beyond the Gulf into North Africa and Central Asia.
