Canon Middle East celebrated its foray at the recent GITEX 2006 exhibition in Dubai with a staggering 50 new product releases, including the world’s smallest camcorder in the HV-10E. Shooting native widescreen 2.96MP HDV1080i, the HV10 features a 10x optical zoom with Instant AF and DIGIC DV II for HD. The HV-10E was showcased on the Canon stand at GITEX 2006 alongside consumer products including the digital-SLR EOS 400D camera and the Selphy ES1 Compact Photo Printer. Mohamed Salama, marketing manager for Canon Middle East, said the new products would play a key role in the company realising its ambition to become the number one digital imaging solutions provider in the Middle East in 2007. “We are expanding our portfolio drastically and offering strong propositions and incentives for our partners and customers,” he said. Canon’s GITEX stand also incorporated a studio with a photographer and models participating in a live fashion shoot, in a bid to showcase its new titanium-finish Digital Ixus 900Ti camera and new range of large format printers. “We are building on our previous ranges with a more distinct segmentation of products aimed at specific sectors of the consumer market,” said Salama.
