Digital imaging industry giant Epson is seeking new distribution partners in the Middle East for its range of high definition (HD)-ready home cinema projectors.

Digital imaging industry giant Epson is seeking new distribution partners in the Middle East for its range of high definition (HD)-ready home cinema projectors. Khalil El-Dalu, GM of Epson Middle East, said the company was keen to do business with key industry stakeholders across the region. “We are looking to secure distribution partners, particularly in Saudi Arabia,” he said. Epson’s new home cinema projector, the EMP-TW700, is capable of reproducing HD images in 16:9 widescreen format. However, El-Dalu conceded that the market for widescreen HD home cinema projectors remained small in the Middle East. “However, the introduction of Blu-ray and HD DVD players should change this situation, as consumers come to appreciate the benefits of the technology,” he said. “Given that HD broadcast signals will be unavailable in the Middle East for some time, we are relying heavily on consumer uptake of the next-generation DVD formats to stimulate demand for HD projectors. We also attracted significant interest from a number of Dubai-based property developers at GITEX for the home cinema projector range.” El-Dalu said Epson was also working to develop a range of new technological innovations in the projector market. “We are focusing specifically on developing wireless technology for our digital projector range as we believe this is way the forward in terms of captivating consumer attention,” he said.
