Golden Tulip and Opodo sign distribution agreement

Golden Tulip Hospitality and the European online travel company Opodo have entered into a global distribution agreement involving a preferred partnership between the two companies.

Golden Tulip Hospitality and the European online travel company Opodo have entered into a global distribution agreement involving a preferred partnership between the two companies. Under the agreement, Opodo will distribute the Golden Tulip Hospitality properties through its network of web sites, which include Opodo.de, Opodo.co.uk, Opodo.it and Opodo.fr. “The company strongly believes in partnering with reputable internet travel companies to strengthen the brand’s market reach,” said president and CEO of Golden Tulip Hospitality Group, Hans Kennedie. “Through this global partnership, our hotels can extend their web presence, whilst continuing to streamline reservations and yield policies through their central reservations system, Goldres.” The Golden Tulip group, which has a number of properties in the region, including four in Oman, three in Saudi Arabia and four in the UAE, believes hotels require a single point of inventory and guest reservation control in order to maximise booking efficiency, according to Riko van Santen, director of distribution and information communication technology for the group. “Through this agreement we can further offer Opodo a single reliable source of up-to-date property information for all our properties, including automated merchant rate adjusting in real time,” he said. “With its rapid expansion plans, [the company] will be adding further destination value to our business model. Furthermore, due to Goldres’ dynamic rate structure, we are able to offer visitors to our website competitive rates all the time, in real time,” added Robin Frewer, product director of Opodo. Further increasing the group’s internet presence, Golden Tulip group has also launched a new meetings and events website, providing information on all meeting facilities offered by Golden Tulip worldwide. The web site boasts a search engine for more than 150 professional venues with the capacity to search by criteria such as size, number of delegates, technological facilities and location. The site also offers additional tools such as a currency converter, space calculator and measurement converter. Those wishing to book via the site can submit an instant online event request form, which is then handled by the Golden Tulip’s Central Meeting Line, a meeting reservation team that will finalise and confirm all reservations via telephone booking agents. “The launch of the Meeting and Events web site was an opportunity for us to relieve them of the frustration of going from site to site during the meeting planning process,” said Kennedie.
