A Lebanese catering company has joined forces with a group of private Qatari investors to build a new business hotel concept in Doha. The five-star La Cigale Hotel, located in the Al Sadd district of downtown Doha, will focus on gastronomic excellence and not only offer an array of innovative F&B outlets, but also a gourmet catering service. And, as soon as the property opens in February, the newly formed company is looking to expand across the GCC, according to Wissam Abdul-Khalek, the property’s director of sales & marketing. “We will look at markets that are underserved,” he said. “Doha will be our flagship and once we prove that is successful, you will be seeing more La Cigale hotels in new markets very soon after. Our investors are very keen on that.” La Cigale is already a well known out-of-house catering brand and gourmet shop concept in Beirut. This has been adapted to the Qatari market in the form of a hotel that boasts four F&B outlets – Le Cigalon live cooking restaurant, Madison piano bar, Le Crillon panoramic European restaurant and Le Central ‘flavours from around the world’ restaurant – the La Cigale Gourmet Shop, specialising in bread and pastry, and a “versatile and luxurious” 1200m2 banqueting hall that can cater to 1000 people seated for dinner and 1600 in a theatre-style format. In addition, the hotel will offer a corporate and social catering service under the La Cigale Catering banner, targeted at the MICE and weddings market. “This is no normal business hotel,” said Abdul-Khalek. “It’s a culinary concept.” La Cigale Hotel will comprise 240 rooms including two royal suites and 24 junior suites. Additional features include an executive club lounge and the Ozone Spa & Gym. The property is a 10-minute drive from Doha International Airport and close to the Qatari capital’s business and shopping districts, as well as key attractions such as souqs and Doha Golf Club.
