Dubai-based GAC Logistics has opened its first office in Scotland, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to developing its logistics network in the United Kingdom. The new office in Glasgow adds to GAC’s current stable of logistics offices across the United Kingdom, including London Heathrow, Manchester, East Midlands, Newcastle, and Bournemouth. Fully operational from 1 October, GAC Logistics (Scotland) offers a full range of freight forwarding and distribution services to meet the logistics demands of manufacturers and distributors in the country’s perishable products sector. “GAC’s operational presence in Glasgow will enable us to meet the growing demand for efficient and time-definite delivery of food and beverage products to and from Scotland. By providing better coverage, the Group is able to better market its service directly to customers,” commented Dennis Mead, managing director, GAC Logistics UK. “Our immediate priorities in Scotland are to reinforce the GAC brand and showcase our global logistics capabilities. As part of the GAC international network, we will also tap on our global purchasing power for more competitive rates that will benefit our customers,” Mead continued. Trade and tourism continue to enjoy strong growth between the UAE and the UK. Whilst the UAE’s economy is booming, its programme of investment and privatisation offers good opportunities for UK businesses. Trade between the two countries is growing at a fast pace with over 85% of UK-UAE trade being conducted through Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
