Taiwanese company Ritek Corporation is hoping to find new distribution partners at this year’s GITEX. The company, which manufactures and distributes products such as CDs and DVDs, is hoping to boost its number of distributors in the region. Its products are already available in Dubai and Saudi Arabia but not in the Middle East at large. The company is already working with distributor Almasa in Dubai and wants to start operating in Iraq and Kuwait. “We came here to introduce Ritek to the Middle East,” said Ritek Corporation global strategic marketing business unit marketing specialist Vanessa Ting. According to Ting, Ritek is the largest in the world for CDR (CD Recorders) and DVD with an 18.5% and 6.2% share respectively. “Over the past two years, we spent time to promote the brand in the Middle East,” Ting added. Ritek is a regular visitor to Gitex, having already visited the show four times before. “It is good because it is the biggest show in the Middle East and the third biggest IT show in the world,” Ting said. “We can meet so many people from Arabian countries,” she added. However, she did note that over the years the traffic had got much worse for visitors and exhibitors to Dubai. “Colleagues say ‘oh, you are going to GITEX, be careful the traffic is so bad,’” Ting commented. Ritek has factories in Taiwan, China and near Thailand as well as a third party warehouse in Jebel Ali but no office at present in the Middle East meaning that GITEX is its main opportunity to raise its profile in the region.
