UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, inaugurated this year’s GITEX & GULFCOMMS exhibitions. His Highness toured the halls of the trade show, stopping at numerous stands along the way to investigate the wide range of technologies being displayed throughout the halls of the show, which is being hailed as the largest and most influential of its kind in the Middle East. According to event organiser Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), this year’s event has recorded spectacular double-digit growth of 33% across the entire spectrum of show parameters, from space expansion and increased exhibitors to larger country representation. The trade show, which is now in its 26th year, occupies a mammoth 62,000 square meters over 13 huge halls. “Building on its remarkable and successful performance every year, GITEX once again affirmed its position as a world-class gateway to this dynamic region that is enjoying tremendous growth,” said DWTC Director General, Helal Saeed Al Marri. In addition to visiting the regular GITEX halls, which stretch from hall 1 through to the Sheikh Rashid and Sheikh Maktoum halls, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed also stopped by the new Zabeel hall, which this year is home to DWTC’s latest exhibition, GULFCOMMS. And, despite the show’s infancy, the telecoms focused exhibition was crammed with some of the very biggest names in the industry.
