NOKIA Enterprise Solutions is urging the Middle East reseller channel to prepare for a major shift in buying behaviour during the next few years. The company claims that consumption of its business devices – which combine voice, e-mail and office software capabilities – is largely driven by individuals, but that will change in the future as more corporations buy the products for their employees. Eric Anderbjork, head of enterprise solutions MEA at Nokia, explains: “Between 10% and 15% of local Middle East companies are actually in control of these devices at the moment, but by 2009 we expect that to grow 50% of companies, which is the trend we are now seeing in Europe. As a result, the channel needs to change their behaviour and talk the language of the customer because the purchasing decision goes from being an individual one to a strategic IT decision.” Nokia’s Enterprise Solutions division is using GITEX to announce the launch of its low-cost E62 model specifically designed for countries such as Pakistan, Iran and African markets where there is limited demand for 3G and wireless LAN features.
