Inventor of the “non round” CD, Shape CD Global, is offering a 20% discount to customers on its range of products if ordered at this year’s GITEX. The result of an idea by two Berlin-based students back in 1995, Shape CD manufactures and designs CD-Rs and DVD-Rs in an array of shapes that still work in standard CD/DVD drives. These include all kinds of digital products, from 120mm to 80mm, in any design. Combining optical attractiveness with modern practical usage, Shape CD’s key products and solutions are CD/DVD design, printing and packaging, as well as the content. Customers can take their favorite album or movie and have Shape CD personalise it in to almost any shape possible, be it a heart or a burger. The company also has additional concepts such as the Clear CD, which is completely transparent, the Aroma Shape CD, which adds fragrance to a round CD, and the Puzzle CD, which creates jigsaw-shaped CDs that can connect together. Werner Wildberger, chief executive, Shape CD, says, “We have German technology with German service quality, that is truly innovative.” Signaling their intentions towards the Middle East, Shape CD has a production location in Dubai. The company’s third time at GITEX, they are looking to continue promotion of their DVDs and special packaging for CDs, whilst also revealing their new CD design in the shape of the number four.
