As issues surrounding credit card security rises, Nixu, an advanced information security company, is hoping to promote its services at this year’s GITEX. Offering a consultancy service, Nixu hopes to create awareness of credit card fraud and what can be done to prevent it from occurring. “Global credit card companies like Visa and MasterCard have set new requirements for the secure storing and handling of electronic card transactions, so major organisations have to meet their regulations and we help them achieve this,” says Oiva Karppinen, CEO, Nixu Middle East. “We are currently working with a number of companies in the region, including banks, processing card centres and merchants who accept cards. Credit card theft is a global issue, so we all have to make sure that tighter regulations are met.” Although a number of companies are already aware of regulations being enforced by credit card companies, the Middle East still has a long way to go. “The problem is that companies have not budgeted for this, so realistically a lot of companies will have to wait until next year to begin the consultancy process,” warns Karppinen. With its headquarters in Finland, Nixu not only consults, but certifies companies as well.
