GAC Logistics has signed a global agreement with Qatar Airways for the movement of cargo between Doha and more than 70 worldwide destinations served by the Doha-based airline. Under the agreement, GAC is assured preferential treatment for space allocation and competitive rates by Qatar Airways, while GAC is committed to transporting airfreight cargo on the airline, which is one of the fastest growing in the world. Bill Hill, GAC group vice president for logistics services, said this is an exciting collaboration of two global companies working together to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of their air cargo products. “As GAC operates a global network of offices and nominated partners at both points of origin and destination, our partnership with Qatar Airways will enable us to create a time-definite, door-to-door solution for customers on all continents to and from Doha,” he said. “With Doha set to become the next global logistics hub, featuring state of the art facilities, this region is fast becoming a prime market for GAC. Expanding our network in strategic locations with like minded companies remains an important business objective,” he added. The Qatar Airways agreement of secured space and nominal rates is also a timely development as GAC steps up its role as the official logistics service provider for the 15th Asian Games in Doha. Qatar Airways is also gearing up as the official airline of the sporting event, which is taking place in Doha in December this year. “This agreement enables both companies to work together with the sole aim of offering our customers the best levels of service,” said Akbar Al Baker, chief executive officer at Qatar Airways. “We both share common values of service excellence with a commitment towards ontime delivery performance on our international network of more than 70 passenger and cargo routes.”
