SITA has signed a deal with Airbus parent EADS to provide integrated mobile radio and IT solutions to the airport industry. The deal, which aims to improve aircraft turnaround times, comes as airports and airlines are under increasing pressure to do more, quickly and cheaply, especially following the emergence of low cost carriers and current rising fuel prices. According to an EADS statement, the solution will ensure improvements in the flow of information, which is an important requirement of airports to optimise the process chain, from arrival to departure, or turnaround of aircraft. “This is a major step in assisting the airport industry to manage a huge increase in passenger volume and safety, which is a major challenge of the 21st century,” said Jean-Marc Nasr, head of EADS Secure Networks. “After a detailed analysis, we chose to go for a close cooperation with SITA.”
