Italian hotel group, Domina, has decided to upgrade its Aqaba property to resort status, following the signing of a management contract with Jordan Maritime Complex for Real Estate Investments Co. The 175-room Aqaba property, currently under construction, will now open as a Domina Hotel & Resort. "We are proud to have signed this management contract with Jordan Maritime Complex for Real Estate Investments Co.," said Jean Patrick Thiry, managing director of Domina Hotel Group. "With Domina Aqaba Hotel & Resort's opening, planned for the end of 2007, we are offering a new destination to our incoming leisure market as well as to the business one." The new resort will now offer a two-storey shopping mall, with 30 international outlets, as well as a wide variety of resort facilities. The hotel, located in the city centre, with easy access to the sea for its guests, will have a total of 175 rooms, including 24 suites, all fully equipped with air conditioning, mini bar, terrace, satellite TV and internet connection. Amenities at guests' disposal include one main swimming pool, sauna, steam bath, massage centre and a gym. In addition there a diving centre one main restaurant, two bars, roof cafeteria and a night club. Extensive conferencing facilities, which comprise a 150m² congress hall, five business offices and a two-storey parking facility, will also enable the resort to target the business and MICE markets more effectively. Domina Aqaba Hotel & Resort belongs to the Domina Hotels & Resort brand, which the group claims "represents a unique environment where guests can relax and offers a special place to be lavished with care and attention". The Domina Hotels & Resorts brand part of the Domina Hotel Group, currently operates seven hotels in five countries worldwide, including properties in Jordan and Egypt, and plans further regional expansion.
