Abu Dhabi is launching a procurement event as part of its plan to turn its airport into a major international hub. The Aviation Procurement Expo is set to run on March 19-21 next year and will be organised by Streamline Marketing. “APEX is a highly targeted commercial forum aimed at face to face dialogue and discussion between the world’s leading aviation suppliers and the key decision makers in Abu Dhabi aviation,” said Nick Webb, director of Streamline Marketing Group, the event organiser. “The event will allow Etihad, ADAC and GAMCO to view, test and procure a wide range of new products, services and technologies right on their doorstep. It will also enable them to develop a shortlist of pre-qualified suppliers for their procurement requirements in the future.” Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi’s national airline, has ambitions to become a major player in both the passenger and cargo spaces. It is expected to transport three million passengers and 150,000 tonnes of cargo this year, approximately double last year’s numbers. Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) incorporates Abu Dhabi Department of Civil Aviation and SCADIA (Supervision Committee for the Abu Dhabi International Airport Project). ADAC is responsible for operating all airports within Abu Dhabi and is overseeing the US $6.8 billion expansion of the emirate’s main airport. Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO) is a well established regional MRO firm. It provides maintenance and repair services for a wide range of aircraft, components and engines.
