Dubai-based DMC, Alpha Tours, is set to open 15 new outlets in Saudi Arabia to cater to the massive influx of tourists from the kingdom to the UAE. The company will open the new offices on January 15; and several more are scheduled to open internationally over the next two years. “Saudi Arabia is the biggest source market in the area, and it has a very big potential to grow more,” said Ghassan Aridi, CEO, Alpha Tours. “[The KSA market] travels the whole year round, not just during the summer vacations. There is a lot of year-round business travel too.” He said 65 to 70% of Alpha’s inbound market comprised leisure travellers, and the remainder was business or MICE related. Offices are also planned for Oman and Brazil in 2007, and the UK and Germany in 2008, and another in Kuwait in the near future. Aridi said Emirates Airlines would commence flights to Brazil before the end of 2007, a claim the carrier has not confirmed. “We already have some business [from Brazil], and we might have a good operation there in the future,” he said.
