Microsoft in ‘LOVE’

The Microsoft stand is bound to be a popular destination at this year’s Gitex — especially for attendees of a romantic disposition — with the vendor giant showcasing a slew of new products. Bahaa Issa, corporate communications manager at Microsoft Gulf, says: “Gitex this year promises to be a massive event for Microsoft. We will be using the event for our Launch of Office, Vista and Exchange campaign in the region, or the ‘LOVE’ launch as it is known.” “Microsoft will have a 900 square metre stand and Gitex will serve as the first event in a regional LOVE roadshow that will continue in early December and will involve events in various countries across the Gulf including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. It is all about the LOVE and delegates will not have to wait until Valentine’s Day 2007,” Issa continues. Microsoft partners will also be putting in an appearance alongside the software giant and the vendor expects to host between 40 and 50 on its stand during Gitex. Not only will show visitors have the opportunity to talk to Microsoft and its partners; they will also have the chance to discover more about the functionality and benefits of Microsoft’s latest solutions. “Visitors to the Microsoft stand will see live demonstrations of Office, Vista and Exchange and will be able to experience the products for themselves. There will also be instructor-led sessions for visitors as well,” says Issa. “Microsoft’s presence will contain something for everyone — partners, developers and end-users. Gitex is an ideal event for Microsoft to showcase its exciting product roadmap to the Middle East IT community.” Microsoft has already made a significant commitment to the Middle East market and is continuing on that path with the launch of an event aimed at the next generation of IT professionals. “Microsoft is also planning to launch the Imagine Cup in the region. This is a competition for University teams from across the Gulf region to participate in. They are given an IT project to complete and the team with the best solution will be crowned winners and will go on to take part in the global Imagine Cup final that is taking place in Korea,” Issa concludes.
