Consumer electronics and IT giant LG is preparing to hit this year’s Gitex with a sparkling collection of IT, mobile and telecommunications, digital display and media products, as well as its range of digital appliances. With worldwide revenues of over US$43.4 billion in 2005, LG represents one of the giants of the global consumer electronics industry and since convergence has become the key buzzword in the current IT market, the importance of its participation is clear. “The basic and most important reason for LG taking part in Gitex is to improve and maintain brand visibility and promote certain new products,” explains a Middle East-based company spokesperson for LG. “Product-wise, we need to improve the brand awareness for our GSMs, and to demonstrate and display new models,” adds C.H. Lee, president at LG Gulf. In the IT division; the latest notebooks, including the DMB notebook, the P1, T1, S1, and a new tablet PC will be on display, while the latest in the company’s Blu-ray enabled range of super multi DVD, DVD writers and players will also feature prominently. Visitors can also expect to see wall-mounted projectors, HD projectors, the latest mobile phones including the DMB phone, 3G phones, the latest Chocolate phone, and also cutting-edge gaming phones. “The Middle East is a key market for us. We have high levels of brand recall and awareness. Consumers maintain a strong association with the brand. LG is known for its innovative products, design, reliability and quality, and our business in the region is growing rapidly,” adds Lee. “The region has witnessed an increase in quality home appliance and IT products recently. This year, LG reported a 20% growth in its first half of year sales performance in the Middle East and Africa,” he concludes. With demand soaring for cutting-edge consumer electronics, mobility and IT products across the wider Middle East and Africa region, LG will use this year’s Gitex to highlight the breadth and depth of its product portfolio. Visitors wanting to see the very latest developments in consumer electronics and IT products will flock to LG’s stand come November.
