Samsung surprises for Gitex

JH Park, president of Samsung Gulf, is promising to showcase the power of the company’s portfolio at Gitex this year. Having established itself as a leading vendor in the IT, mobile and consumer electronics space, the Korean giant is refusing to rest on its laurels and is planning to launch a number of new digital devices during Gitex 2006 in November. According to Park, the importance of Gitex on a regional and global basis, ensures that Samsung is paying even greater attention to its presence at the show. “Gitex is a very powerful regional event now,” explains Park. “And this is not just now from a Middle East and Africa perspective — Gitex is also attracting visitors from the CIS and Eastern Europe.” With the importance of Gitex on the global IT event calendar growing, Samsung is committed to boosting its presence at the show. “The size of the show itself is increasing year-after-year and the number of visitors is also on the rise,” adds Park. “All this has resulted in Samsung as a company dedicating more resources to our presence at Gitex. “This year our stand will be somewhat different. It will be larger than last year but we are also looking to finalise a very creative design that gives the visitors more space to walk around and view the products that we offer.” On the products front, one segment where Samsung intends to create a real buzz at this year’s show is the flat panel display market. “This year, globally, one of the hottest product areas has to be flat panel displays from LCDs through to plasmas. These are both product areas that Samsung has a strong global reputation and we will look to build on this success story at Gitex 2006.” Away from its impressive flat panel display credentials, Samsung will also look to showcase its strength in the mobile phone space. “We have launched our Ultra edition phone range. In a very short time it has become a best seller in the market and new generations of phones will follow. Samsung is focusing more and more on the mobile phone sector. “We now have a full range of mobile phone devices to cater to the needs of this fast-growing market,” Park concludes.
