After a high-profile series of major acquisitions, business software giant Oracle will use this year’s Gitex to talk through its expanded portfolio. OracleWorld is a regular fixture at Gitex, with the software giant teaming up with its partners to display a wide range of solutions. Visitors this year should expect even more than usual however — a statement that reflects the fact that Oracle has broadened its solutions line up thanks to an aggressive series of acquisitions in the past 18 months or so. “You’ll see a much deeper focus on acquisitions this year, obviously because of the acquisitions that we have made,” says Dana Murugan, senior director marketing, Oracle Middle East and Africa. “This year we feel confident that Gitex is going to be a lot bigger for us.” As well as high-profile multi-billion dollar acquisitions such as PeopleSoft and Siebel, Oracle has made a number of other buys in the past year or so, including significant investments in companies such as Retek, which specalises in the retail sector, and I-Flex, which provides banking software. Specialist teams will be on hand from Oracle’s Retail and CRM arms to demonstrate the technology and visitors will be able to see ‘hands-on’ demonstrations of the latest solutions. Visitors will get the chance to learn more about the products and services provided by Oracle’s partners, with more than 40 having confirmed their presence right after last year’s show. The theme for Oracle this year is ‘best information for best results’.
