Global software vendor Adobe Systems has updated its family of consumer editing programs with the launch of Photoshop Elements 5.0, an upgrade to its best-selling consumer photo editing application, and its Premiere Elements 3.0 home video editing solution for Windows-based PCs. Available together in the form of a double retail package (as well as separately), these new products deliver what Adobe claims is unique integrated functionality that really lets users do more with their digital photos and home video footage. “Digital photography has changed the way people capture moments and memories, and today’s cameras and even camera phones have the potential to deliver some extraordinary results,” commented John Loiacono, senior vice president of the Creative Solutions Business Unit at Adobe. Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 is all about letting users organise their files, easily edit images (including via instant ‘one-click’ fixes) and share these photos in new and interesting ways. “Photoshop Elements provides end users the creative freedom to get more out of their digital camera, with the sophisticated and accessible editing features that the Photoshop name is famed for. The result is superior images that can be shared with family and friends in new, exciting, high impact ways – on the Web or in printed formats,” said Loiacono. Premiere Elements 3.meanwhile enables users to add quality effects and enhancements to their videos, and then output this content to a wide variety of devices and formats (including Adobe Flash Video, which the company claims is the standard video format for popular social networking websites). “With sharing video files across Web sites such as YouTube, MySpace and Google Video now established as a pop culture phenomenon, Adobe Premiere Elements arms even beginners with the accessible tools to make their compositions stand out from the crowd,” Loiacono added.
