Telecoms network solutions vendor Huawei has bagged a deal with Worldcall Group, one of the fastest emerging telecoms groups in Pakistan, to deploy a CDMA WLL network. Under the terms of the deal Huawei will provide Worldcall with civil engineering, infrastructure deployment, management and optimisation services. The new CDMA WLL network will be built on Huawei’s CDMA softswitch solution and 450/479MHz BTS. Based on its controller-and-bearer separated architecture, Huawei claims that its CDMA softswitch solution enhances network security, reduces transmission costs and provides large capacity for operators. “Huawei is a dynamic company full of the customer-driven spirit. I believe Huawei’s CDMA solution will enable Worldcall to deploy networks quickly, and enhance our service quality and ability. We look forward to further cooperation between Worldcall and Huawei,” said Salmaan Taseer, chairman of Worldcall Group. Worldcall is now one of the largest private telecoms operators in Pakistan. “Huawei’s WLL solution will allow Worldcall quick network deployment, as well as enhanced network flexibility and security,” added Wang Jiading, VP at Huawei’s Middle East and North Africa operations. “We will continue to offer customised solutions and professional services to create long-term value for our customers.” Huawei offers end-to-end CDMA2000 solutions including core equipment, services platform, handsets and fixed terminals. In March 2006, the company claimed to hold 65% of the CDMA450 business and 68% of the CDMA WLL market.
