Tamouh Investments has awarded a US $354 million (AED1.3 billion) package to an IJM-led consortium of Malaysian contractors, to build Zone C of Marina Square on Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. “The work involves the construction of five residential towers between 40 and 50 storeys high, seven ‘super villas’, a hypermarket and a car park with around 2,250 spaces,” said Lee Smith, director of infrastructure and facilities management, Tamouh Investments. Zone C of Marina Square consists of five sections. Contracts for the first three sections have already been awarded while tenders for the fourth section have been floated. Tenders for the last section are expected to be issued later this year. “Most of the piling work has been completed and the construction of the main structure is expected to begin next month with it scheduled to be finished in the first quarter of 2009. The contract is worth about AED1.3 billion,” added Smith.
